Dr. [Mesci] graduated from Akdeniz University Hospital in 1999. He completed his residency in General Surgery at the same university in June 2005. In 2008, he became an Assistant Associate Professor and was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in 2012 after successfully passing the exam administered by the Council of Universities. After specializing, he focused on innovations in minimally invasive surgery, particularly laparoscopy. In 2005, he received advanced laparoscopic surgery training at the National University Hospital in Singapore. He received further training in laparoscopic colonic surgery in Hamburg, Germany in 2008 and laparoscopic gastric surgery in Frankfurt, Germany in 2010. He was the first to perform biliary, hernia, bony, suprarenal, and kidney transplant donor operations using the single incision laparoscopic (SILS) method, which has helped to popularize laparoscopic surgical procedures. He has a special interest in the laparoscopic treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, morbid obesity, and metabolic diseases such as Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. He is currently working as a lecturer in the General Surgery Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine at Akdeniz University.
