It is common to have some nasal congestion and a temporary decrease in sense of smell after rhinoplasty, but these symptoms typically improve within the first few weeks. As for the smell, you may experience some unpleasant smells during the early post-operative period due to the presence of dried blood, mucus, and other surgical materials inside the nose.
You may also experience a slight odor from the topical ointments or dressings applied to the nose during the healing process. However, with proper cleaning and aftercare, any unpleasant smells should dissipate as you continue to heal.
If you have concerns about the smell or any other symptoms after your rhinoplasty, be sure to discuss them with your surgeon.
